With different curriculums for the fall and spring sessions, this intensive program meets once a week for five weeks to tackle a variety of topics in association management. The learning will be fun and thought-provoking as we delve into the specifics of the profession. Each session is approved for three hours of CAE credit in various domains.

This program is unique because it provides more than a not-for-profit view. It is association specific.

Although, NOT a CAE study program or intended as a preparation for the CAE designation, the program will address many of the broad topic areas you will find in the CAE Exam Content Outline.

Who should attend?

  • Individuals seeking the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation.
  • New association executives looking for a fast start "boot camp".
  • Experienced association executives seeking a general refresher or to fill in the gaps in their personal skillset.
  • Up-and-coming association executives being "groomed" for chief staff executive positions.
  • Specialist staff seeking generalist training to better understand the profession of association management.
  • Individuals with a CAE seeking continuing education credit.

What will you learn?

Wow, where do we start?  This program is best described as "association executive in a box."  During this intensive 5-week program, you'll learn from experienced subject matter experts about specific areas of association management. You'll be given study resources to explore the topic matter at an even deeper level on your own. You'll be given practical tools, including "boilerplate" templates and forms, performance metrics and measurement tools you can use in your own association. You will participate in case studies and real-world scenarios to help you more effectively overcome challenges you'll likely face in volunteer and human resource management. You'll learn how to avoid legal pitfalls, manage risks and ensure your association is positioned for long-term success.

Why should I attend?

  • Newly hired to your first association executive position? This a great boot camp to get started right.
  • Do you have staff you want to move into management? This course provides a broad view of association management to develop an Executive in Training.
  • Would you like your staff to have a "big picture" of the association industry? This is a great opportunity for specialists to get out of their "silos" to learn about the profession of association management, not just their specialty.
  • Been there, done that? Even if you're an experienced association executive, you can benefit from a refresher or attend specific sessions to fill in the gaps in your personal skill set.
