Councils and Committees
Foundational CSAE committees that meet and work throughout the year are listed below. This is where the planning and visioning for key interest areas is accomplished. A Business Plan for the 2011-12 year will be generated from this group.
ADVOCACY & OUTREACH
Public Policy Committee
Tasks: Monitors legislative and regulatory activity that impacts associations in Colorado and makes recommendations on CSAE positions when appropriate. Recommends educational topics for educational programs, plans Legislative Receptions, and develops other activity to further enhance the impact CSAE has with legislators in the state.
Size: 5 to 7 members
Meetings: Regular communication during legislative session
COMMUNITY COUNCIL
Executive Retreat
Tasks: Plans retreat for association leaders that fosters the sharing of ideas and strengthens community connections. Event held in Winter or early spring.
Size: 5 to 7 members. One associate member willing to host the event at their property. Additional committees limited to professional members with over five years association experience.
Meetings: 4 planning sessions (combination of phone and in person) during late summer and early fall.
Golf
Tasks: Designs the annual golf tournament and promotes the event to the association community
Size: 5 to 7 members.
Meetings: 4 planning sessions at a time convenient to all. Subgroup to promote event prior to each Learn with Leaders 4 months prior to the conference
Mentoring
Tasks: Match participating mentors with mentees who desire to enhance their skills and knowledge, taking their career to new levels.
Size: 5 members. A past president.2-3 professional members. 1-2 associate members
Meetings: As determined by the group
Nominations
Tasks: Reviews applications for board service. Conducts interviews. Makes recommendation to the membership 90 days prior to annual meeting.
Size: 5 members. Chair is past president. 3 professional members and 1 associate member. Final committee is made by current president and approved by board.
Meetings: 2 meetings via telephone
Sharing Groups
Tasks: Identifies sharing groups within the association. Monitors activities. Assesses member satisfaction. Makes recommendations for improvement.
Size: 5 to 7 members.
Meetings: 2 meetings
KNOWLEDGE COUNCIL
Business Relations
Tasks: Distill wisdom, experiences, and insight into product development. Identify cost-effective tools and programs that can be implemented by associations to enhance the member experience. Recommend products that generate revenue for CSAE
Size: 5 to 7 members
Meetings: Quarterly. In person or conference call meetings..
Professional Development
Tasks: Identify critical knowledge needs, delivery method, and desired member learning experience within the master calendar; monitor and promote the Association Express program; identify topics for white papers; assist with CAE preparation
Size: 7 to 20 members
Meetings: Monthly or as needed
VALUE COUNCIL
Communications and Marketing
Tasks: Assist with copy writing, news releases, social media, and photography at regular events. Work with media when appropriate. Recommend ways CSAE can add value and enhance the audiences it serves, bringing recognition to the association and the industry. Share best practices within the association community.
Size: 15 to 20 members
Meetings: Quarterly
Awards and Recognition
Tasks: Refine awards and recognition programs. Identify ways to recognize volunteers and members.
Size: 5 to 7 members
Meetings: Quarterly
Membership Development
Tasks: Lead and referral generation. Plan and implement Fall and Spring membership drive. Serve as ambassador/mentors to all new members. Conduct quarterly new member orientation.
Size: 6 to 8 members. 4 associate members and 4 professional members
Meetings: monthly meeting
Membership Retention
Tasks: Coordinate existing membership Ambassador program. Follow up on delinquent members.
Size: 5 to 7 members. Combination of associate and professional members
Meetings: Quarterly by conference call or in person
Silent Auction/Fundraising
Tasks: Explore new avenues for engaging members while raising funds for CSAE. Plan and coordinate silent auction
Size: 5 – 7 members.
Meetings: Quarterly during year. As needed during Auction.
Executive Memo Editorial
Tasks: Plan yearly editorial calendar. Edit copy. Manage article submissions for one issue. Provide recommendations for content. Produce articles.
Size: 5 – 7 members
